Frequently Asked Questions

Are RV's allowed?

A first come first serve basis will be implemented for small RV's as parking space is limited. We are able to give recommendations for nearby RV parks if we can not accommodate your vehicle on-site. Please email us directly to ensure your RV is allowed at the event.

 

Can I bring my dog/ pet?

Due to the private landowners request, no animals are allowed unless they are certified service animals.

 

Can I bring children?

We allow children under the age of 18 as long as they are accompanied by their legal parental guardian. While this is an all ages event, it is geared more towards people over the age of 14 due to the complex nature of the topics discussed at the event. Please contact us if you plan on bringing children for further information.

What kind of camping gear do I need to bring?

Headlamps, raingear, stakes, tarps and rainfly's, 10x10 e-z up tents, mug and water bottle, snacks, long pants, closed toed shoes and hiking boots, warm clothes (wool and layers are good), whistle. Folding chairs and blankets for presentations. There is limited electricity on-site to recharge electronics etc.

 

Is there the ability to shower at the event?

There is a co-ed shower house on site that is heated by a wood stove. Occupancy is two guests at a time, with private changing rooms and showers. 

 

Do I have to camp onsite?

Camping onsite is included in the price of the ticket. If you prefer to stay off site, we can provide recommendations for room and board in nearby hotels.

 

Can I bring my RV? How does the parking situation work?

Average sized vehicles are OK. Anything larger than a standard sized van or extended cab truck needs to be approved by staff beforehand. Please email us if this is the case. Parking is limited on the event grounds, we may have to double or triple park your car in for the weekend.  If you need to leave or go anywhere during the event please contact a staff member as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your needs. 

 

Accessibility questions

There will be some presentations in the field.  Some of the trails may be steep, slippery and or muddy on AND off site.  Anybody with mobility challenges could find this part of the event difficult.  Please email us if you have mobility concerns.

 

What do you mean by provided meals? What if I have dietary restrictions?

Included in the price of the ticket, there will be provided meals including breakfast/ brunch and dinner for each day of the event.  Please make sure to fill out dietary restrictions at the time of purchasing your ticket so we can accommodate meals for everyone. All guests will need to bring their own snacks for lunch. We will also be providing a tea and beverage station with warm beverages all day.

 

Are there places that are covered?

The event is mostly held outdoors. Please be prepared for inclement weather and outdoor conditions. With that said,  There will be some covered areas and tents to get out of the weather as well as fire pits that will be active each day of the event.There will also be some limited hands-on workshops that will be held indoors.

 

Is there cell phone reception at the event?

There is limited cell phone reception at the event. Please keep this in mind.

 

Are their single day passes available?

The short answer is no.  Please contact us if you have any questions about attending for a single day.

 

What can I bring to the event?

Please read the terms and conditions about what you can bring. No propane heaters or camp stoves allowed. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

 

Do you have scholarships?

To make this event accessible to anyone and everyone who is interested or where the full ticket price is a limiting factor; this ticket applies to students, aspiring mycologists, and conservationists. Preference will go to BIPOC community.  Find our scholarship application here.

Where is the event held?

The 2023 Coastal Fungi Symposium will be held at a gorgeous ocean-front retreat center near Oysterville, Washington on the Long Beach Peninsula. To keep our event private, all ticket holders will receive an email one week prior to the event start date with the location details.
